Poetry

A collection of poems

if i only had one day left i would

tell you i love you/that you are the breath in my lungs/that when you smile my heart does somersaults/that you are a promise/the kind you intend to keep/that in you i find hope/strength/courage/and the will to keep soldiering on/i would kiss your lips/slowly and softly/deep and warm/i would show you the secrets of the universe/i would tell you it’s going to be okay/hold your hand while you cry/wipe your tears away/gently cup your cheek/softly caress/whisper in your ear/i would look into your eyes/unravel in your arms/when i’m on my deathbed i hope to only see our best memories/of which there are plenty

when i gave you my heart

i gave you my life

my word

my dying breath

when i gave you my heart

i gave you my devotion

my obsession

my flesh

when i gave you my heart

i gave you my everything

i am building a museum for

every person no longer here

it takes a lot

more grit

to stay

than it does

to go

i am not at fault for leaving or staying

for being left or being loved

for holding on

or letting go
